Originally from Seattle, his unique take on sushi is a reflection of his global travels. TAHOE PRIVATE CHEF was founded following Josh's time spent in Japan in 2017.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Chef Brian developed an early fascination with seafood, cooking, and eventually sushi. He embarked on a culinary journey that led to training under many amazing sushi chefs, where he honed his skills and gained invaluable expertise and confidence. Brian's commitment to authenticity and respect for tradition shine though every dish he creates.
The majority of the fish arrives fresh for each dinner, so you don't get the old fish they're trying to get rid of at the sushi restaurant. Local fish is usually caught between Mendocino and Morro Bay and shipped to Truckee directly from Pier 45 in San Fransisco. Japan product is flown in overnight, usually from the Toyosu fish auctions in Tokyo.
There are no set menus- each menu is custom tailored to each particular group. The most rare and exotic products can be sourced with enough advance notice! Alternatively- if there are kids or guests who are less adventurous, the menu and service style can be adjusted to suit.
Billing is based on labor time plus cost of ingredients, rather than by per-person. The price will vary based on your menu choices and service style- every event is unique. Please use the contact form at the bottom of the page to make an inquiry.
